As in a Junior in this class I currently have a 94%(A). In this class, we are expected a lot from the teacher itself. I personally like that because when you don't feel like you are doing well, Mrs.Nicodemus always finds a way to help you. In addition, we are always taking notes (Cornell Notes) , reading paragraphs and chapter from, "The Things They Carried", watching documentaries from The Vietnam war and speeches that changed the U.S and we just started drawing things based of the Vietnam war. To add on, we always get homework from this class. We get things like reading a certain part of the book to taking notes of a small research you have to do. Last but not least, we just started a project based on a problem that the U.S currently has. For example, Mexican Immigration. My struggles in this class would be is just talking out of turn due to a disagreement. On the other hand, my strength would be turning in my work on time and communication with my teacher. I love Mrs. Nicodemus and I know she will support me whenever I need it and give me advice to achieve my goal in this class, to get and maintain an A.
What are your goals in this class and how will you maintain that?
My goal this year for this class would be to maintain an A throughout the school year. If I were to drop that A, I would request to come in for tutoring, ask on how I could get up my letter grade and maintain that letter grade and last but not least, come in prepared ready to learn.
tIME wRITING
During the past two weeks, we were assigned to write a prompt based on the opinion of people getting drafted to Vietnam. To add on, we only had 52 minutes to write as much as you can on your opinion.. In the following, I have typed down my opinion on this topic and added quotes from the book to support my statement.
In discussion of war, one controversial issue has been going to fight for this country if drafted. On the one hand, people argue that you shouldn't fight a war you don’t support. On the other hand, people contend that avoiding the draft is a traitorous or unpatriotic act. My own view is that you shouldn’t fight a war you don’t support.
Over the years now, this has been a major debate that still goes on till this day. Let’s break things down, to get a clear view and understanding of why, you shouldn't fight a war you don’t support. First, it's the rich people who support this war. Congressmen along with other branches support this war simply because they keep making money and they don’t take the risk of losing their lives. Instead, young and smart people are being sent to take Congress place and fight in the war. This idea is just unfair, young people hated this draft thing. For example, on page 38 second paragraph, it states, “I was drafted to fight a war I hated. I was twenty-one years old. Young, yes , and politically naive, but …. certain blood was being shed for uncertain reasons. I saw no unity of purpose, no consensus on on matter of philosophy or history of law… was it a civil war?”
Another great example is on page 40.It states,”If they needed fresh bodies, why not draft some back-to-the -stone-age-back?...There should be a law I thought. If you support a war, if you think it’s worth the price, that’s fine, but you have to put your own precious fluids on the line…. And you have to bring along your wife, or your kids, or your lover. A law I thought.”It's just socioeconomic status. The rich get richer, the poor get poorer. If you were rich you were safe, if you are young and smart, you would be sent off.
To add on, to the socioeconomic status, if you were older, you had more of an advantage to avoid a draft. From the text, What did you do in the Class War Daddy?(last page of the packet) it states, “These bare the boys from Chelsa… Most of them were younger than us,since they had just left high school, and it had clearly never occurred to them that they might be on a way around the draft.” These boys here, had no choice. On the other hand, Harvard students at least knew of a way to avoid being drafted. These Chelsa boys were even younger with no choice of scape. To add on, I’m pretty sure they didn’t want to get drafted either. Why fight a war you don’t even support. It's not your fault that some old guy want to start a war and you have to be in it, that's just unfair
These are the reason why men like Jones Fallows and Tim O’Brain do crazy things to avoid being drafted. I personally would of have done the same thing. I don’t want you to be sent to a war I don’t support. For example, on What Did You Do In The Class War, Daddy? It states, “Draft resistance,..... meant going to prisoner leaving the country…. I wanted to stay alive, I did not want those things either. What I wanted was to go to graduate school, to get married, and enjoy those bright prospects I had been taught that life owned me. I totally agree with that statement. You have goals and dreams in this life. All of those dreams and goals stopped for so many young people. All because people were being killed in Vietnam and they needed more people out there. All to take place of those people who actually supported the war but don’t want to risk being killed in action.
When it comes to the topics of war, most of us will readily that it’s unfair and sad. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of being drafted to fight and support your country or flee and escape for safety. Where some are convinced that fleeing makes you look like a coward. Other maintain that it’s the right way and you should do it. Simply because you don’t support the war. One question, will you do the same to? Or will you fight a war you don’t support?

We have been assigned to do a research paper based of something that interests you on the field that you decided to go. I for example, decided to choose financial wellness and my topic was autos. My research question was " What's More convenient? Purchasing a New or Used Car?"
Here a link to 8+ sourced that I used in order to create my first draft of this research paper. Currently, I have an average of 83% on this class.

2016-2017 Humanities iv
Since almost the begging of the school year we have been focusing on our way out of high school and what to do next. With that said, we have been working on our prompts to apply to any UC university. On the following, I will show an example of 1 out 4 that I have been working on.
Personal Statement Drafts
Two ERWC activities
Besides working on college stuff, we have also wrote down stuff that we plan to do or have been going through has we continue to grow up. The following are examples of what we have been working on during class on this period.

Goal For this Class
My only goal for this class is to get an A. I will accomplish this goal by finishing all my assignments on time and ask my learning facilitator for help whenever I need it.
